Pupils and staff from the local primary school have helped to breathe fresh life into the garden at Avonbridge United Reformed Church, six miles south of Falkirk.Hugh, the janitor at the school, which holds two Eco-School Awards, built a pair of flower boxes and connecting arch.

Clive McGrory from the church enlisted the help of local businesses and organisations including B&Q, Community Services and Tesco to help brighten up the church and garden.

Clive also weatherproofed and painted an old pew from the church to create a bench for the garden.Pupils from the school painted an eight-foot by four-foot mural, which Ken Rodgers turned into a Christmas card that has been sold in aid of church funds.

Children from the school took part in a short service at the church on 12 November to celebrate their achievements.Find out more about the project and see more photographs on the Eco-Congregation Scotland website at http://www.ecocongregationscotland.org/news/church-and-school-go-green-together-in-avonbridge/
