Search is on for next synod moderator

The General Assembly of the United Reformed Church is seeking a URC minister to serve as the next moderator of the URC National Synod of Scotland from 1 July 2016.The synod is looking for a moderator to help it grow and adapt its aspiration-shaped ministry and mission, which seeks always to look outward to the communities in which it is set as well as to the wider world.

The new moderator will be able to engage confidently with Scotland’s civic and Governmental life, and will be comfortable in spending a significant amount of time travelling.It is important that the new moderator will be able to demonstrate a sound track record in ministry, with strong pastoral gifts and a readiness to explore new ways of being church.

Effective experience of collaborative team working, a proven ability to exercise consultative leadership, and an ability to help churches manage change are all essential, as is a commitment to building relationships ecumenically and with other faith groups.
